This past week I posted the Belly wear mini guide for our students, advising them on how to shop for their pregnancy clients. We decided to add a challenge to the mix by asking our students to shop for items under $25.00. The entries are starting to come in. Here’s one by Angela Krol. If you are a student, download the guide and join the challenge.
“Top Wal mart $7.00 (bathing suit cover up I think) worked great!”

Canada Workshop Highlights

I had the best two days in Toronto Canada this past weekend. It was smooth sailing through customs and working with 5 great creative women was wonderful. Our models were so mixed and varied which made the two days even more enjoyable. We had twins, a pregnant ballerina with a wonderful husband, a beautiful pregnant mama with an adorable little girl, a gorgeous little boy who loved the scent of his mother and last but not least two little boys that had skin like butter.

There are thousands of images among the photographers, and they will be sending them to me so we can showcase them on the site and send the models their images.
In the meantime, here is a sneak peak.

Oh and check out some video snippet son YOUTUBE.

I have 3 more stops to make in September. I will be going to Vegas, Vancouver and then ending the workshop circuit in Laguna Beach for some much needed inspiration with the Bootcamp attendees. After these last 3 I am taking a break for awhile from workshops. Soooo if you want to go, now is the time. Don’t wait, life is tooo short!

Baby Blooms

OUR BLOOMS are now in our store.
Our very popular baby knit collection is now adorned in flowers. Each flower and ribbon bows are hand sewn into the flower and the cover. Tons of flowers are sewn into this collection and it will truly create an art collection your client will love.
Care is needed with these items, and they come wrapped in their own jar so that you can preserve them in between sessions. With great care, they should last quite some time.
Covers are true to size. If needing for small babies or preemies the newborn size will work but it might be a tad big. We do have a preemie size.
Covers can be hand washed very gently in soap and water. Then let air dry.
NOTE: THESE ARE BEING HAND MADE AND DELIVERIES ARE ARRIVING WEEKLY. PLEASE ALLOW 1-2 WEEKS BEFORE SHIPPING UNLESS STOCK IS PLENTY. WE WILL RESPOND UPON ORDERING WITH AN ESTIMATED SHIP DATE. IF YOU NEED IT SOONER THAN 2 WEEKS A RUSH FEE OF $20.00 PER ITEM WILL APPLY. DUE TO THE HAND SEWN NATURE, WE PREFER TO TRY AND NOT RUSH BUT WE CAN IF NEED BE.
Available Qty: 39
Price: $130.00

Transitional Posing
July 24, 2010 by admin
Filed under Reading Corner, Recent Updates

Transitional posing is shooting in a series of subtle soft movements that create a series of fluid images.
After teaching dozens of workshops using my Transitional Posing method and hearing from my students that posing was the most important thing they wanted to learn, I decided it was time for a guidebook.
Transitional Posing sounds like a complicated concept, but it really an easy method. The idea is to keep your clients moving, and not realizing that they are really posing. No one likes posing. No one likes being posed. Posed portraits carry with them the image of being stiff, reserved, and formal. Also, a little stuffy and out of date.
Everyone wants the casual images that make them look natural, relaxed and beautiful. But our natural, relaxed selves are not photogenic or visually pleasing. When we are relaxed, our shoulders are usually hunched, our chins pull back and we develop bad posture. Bellies bulge and thighs inflate; little flaws become obvious.
So is that what people want when they say they want natural, un-posed images? Of course not. They want to see their amazing sculpted figures, defined chins and toned thighs. So you as the photographer need to do that for them. And I’m not talking about plastic surgery, Botox, or Photoshop. I’m talking about posing.
In this guide I will show you simple posing transitions for pregnancy portraits. You will see how you can start with one pose and then slowly evolve it into a series of poses all through a continual process of movements and adjustments.

Student Spotlight: Lynette Bradshaw

Name: Lynette Bradshaw
Business Name: Lynette Bradshaw Photography
Location: Cedar Hill, Texas (Dallas Area)
Years in Business: 6 Years

Websites www.LBradshawPhotography.com and www.SilkEleganceBoudoir.com
Favorite Subject to Photograph: Expectant Moms, couples and Boudoir. I love photographing little babies, but I don’t get that many opportunities to do so, Not yet anyway.
Where your business is now: My business is in the growing process. I feel it has a way to go to reach where I desire, but I’m learning daily how to make progress business wise.

Where its going or want it to be: I feel my business is moving forward toward success. I’m getting more visible due to Facebook and clients sharing my work with their friends and family which is bringing in more inquiries, etc. I want to be more visible in my community and in the areas around my community. I want to have my work displayed in businesses and to be able to use my gifts to help organizations that are true to my heart such as Domestic Violence Shelters/homes and abused children.
Your biggest challenge right now: Marketing that draws in the clients that desire Art and something different than the everyday photographer…Setting myself apart and creating unique products continually.
A recent good thing that happened to you: This spotlight! That is a great honor to me & a real encouragement to me. Someone said that I could leave information in their Women’s Gym about my Boudoir Photography. That was the first YES!
Why you joined the forum: I joined to learn about newborns especially. That has always been intimidating to me, even after having 5 children.
What you like about the forum: I like how giving everyone is and how Ana is not afraid to share with others. I’ve been on many forums free and paid, and the wealth that I have gained in information, shared information, suppor, encouragement is priceless. It was one of the best business investments I’ve made in 6 years.
Something personal about you: I am a person that loves making others see themselves special. I love finding something about a person and complimenting them about it such as their eyes, smile, etc…It brightens my day and heart to see them smile. I’ve been there and I know how much it meant to me for someone to compliment me at my lowest point.

We had an amazing time at the NY workshop. We have been interviewing our students and asking them to send us images.
Here is a mini quick video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfvwPBTcIjs
Here’s what one of our models said…
“Hey Ana… I just wanted to tell you that today was an Amazing expierence…. I felt like a school girl meeting someone famous… And thank you for being so patient with my 2 yr old… she has a personality the size of Texas… and I do know it’s always easier when they aren’t yours…
But anyway today you made me feel unbelievable beautiful and it was such a pleasure being on the other side of the camera…. I am usually far from happy/comfortable in my own body but you made things so easy!!! I am sooooooo excited and will wait in anticipation to see the final images…. so hoping there is a good one of the girls and I… they were such troopers for coming with me!!!
Thanks again…. and sorry for the rambeling email I am still giddy for the expierence!!!”
