Canada Workshop Highlights

I had the best two days in Toronto Canada this past weekend. It was smooth sailing through customs and working with 5 great creative women was wonderful. Our models were so mixed and varied which made the two days even more enjoyable. We had twins, a pregnant ballerina with a wonderful husband, a beautiful pregnant mama with an adorable little girl, a gorgeous little boy who loved the scent of his mother and last but not least two little boys that had skin like butter.

I have 3 more stops to make in September. I will be going to Vegas, Vancouver and then ending the workshop circuit in Laguna Beach for some much needed inspiration with the Bootcamp attendees. After these last 3 I am taking a break for awhile from workshops. Soooo if you want to go, now is the time. Don’t wait, life is tooo short!

Last of 2010 workshops

As we head into summer we are working on the last of our TAoPaN  tour. I will be going to New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Vegas and then Laguna Beach.

I get emails every day asking as to what skill level is required to attend our workshops. First off, the workshops are for professional photographers in the business.  But, how established in the business? How experienced?

To that I say that it’s about what I know, not what you know. In every workshop I have had photographers with 20 years experience, and those just starting out. Some have never used studio lights, others have. I fully explain everything I am doing and help you along the way.

We limit our workshops to ten students, so that time is available for everyone. At this point I am not scheduling any 2011 workshops. So if you want to join us, now is the time!

I cannot urge you enough – if you have the opportunity to go to one of Ana Brandt’s workshops, YOU MUST GO! I can honestly say it was life-changing. I arrived feeling inferior and self-conscious, and by the time I left I felt very excited and thrilled by all the possibilities out there that I wasn’t seeing. Ana literally took us by the hand and showed us the hundreds of possibilities under our very noses and exactly how to achieve those awesome images we all want. Yes it’s a lot of work but we are really kidding ourselves if we think it shouldn’t be. I had been thinking that I must not be very good if I struggle so much with setups, lighting, posing, working with the subjects, etc. etc. But one of the main things I took away is that that is all part of the process! Even pros like Ana have the very same struggles I have – you just persevere and work through it, let it flow and find the solutions. I watched her interact with the models – total strangers to her just like they would be to me – and she showed us how to gradually work with them and take your time, let it all fall into place. There is no magical secret – we can all do it! Just having the opportunity to spend three days with Ana and watch how she works was one of the best gifts I have been given. INTRODUCING: MY LIFE WORKSHOPS ONLINE

We have had so many requests from all over the US of A for our MYLIFE Workshops online!

So with some help we have made this happen. Class begins ONLINE on March 8th. If you are already enrolled in a MYLIFE  in person workshop you will have free access. IF you are interested in one of our in person workshops,we have added 2 dates. There are currently three dates avalable and at this point we are not planning any other inperson workshops this year. So if you are interested, do not wait!

The ONLINE workshop is a onetime fee for the year and we are planning THREE 6-8 week workshops during 2010 for this ONE fee.

These workshops (In person and Online) are for NON pros. However if you are turning PRO or already a PRO and need some technical advice and inspiration, this is a great place to be.

MYLIFE Workshops Q&A

Q: What is it exactly?
A: MY LIFE Workshops is a photo class that we are teaching in person to clients, friends, whoever signs up. In this class we teach them how to use their camera and work with their flash, lenses and natural light to achieve the best images when at home. There are only 3 dates this year scheduled. We meet at our Tustin studio and spend 7 hours. It is hands on. We start with going over your camera and the manual controls and then we shoot – indoors and out. You can have your children come as models or we can bring our own. We also shoot still life to demonstrate how to work with exposures. This class is taught by me – Ana Brandt. It is available to anyone who wishes to sign up. We do not discuss lighting and this is not a pro workshop. For my pro workshops visit www.theartofpregnancyandnewborn.com and click on workshops. Q: What is the online class?
A: The online class for MYLIFE Workshops is simply taking the MYLIFE workshop class online. I currently have a pro online workshop that we have had for years in which we have students from all over the world in our class. We have ongoing lessons, challenges and workshops on the pro level. In support of the NON pro class – the MYLIFE workshops, we are creating an entirely seperate online workshop for these students. If you are signed up for any of our MYLIFE workshops or are planning on signing up you can get free access to this online workshop. If you are a PRO and a member of my current PRO workshop and want access you can pay $99.00 to join this forum. For all others the one time intro cost is $199.00. THIS PRICE WILL GO UP ON MARCH 8th when class opens.

Q: Do I have to pay $199 for each set of classes?
A: No. If you sign up now this $199 is a flat fee. There is not another fee for this workshop online. Keep in mind this fee does not cover an in person workshop, just the online. This year we are committing to THREE 6-8 week series. The first series is 8 weeks, we will take a few weeks off then start another series of 6 weeks, take a break and then finish with 8 weeks. EACH MODULE is different. Its not the same workshop three times. Our plan is to take the students to the next level each time and be even more creative. SO YES YOU ARE ONLY paying $199 for 3 classes! FUN FUN. We want to make this affordable to all.

Q: Who is teaching the class?
A: Stefanie Carlson and Ana Brandt (Stefanie runs her own photography business www.stefaniecarlson.com and worked with me and ran my pro line for several years and is currently a moderator and works with our pros)

Q: What if I sign up online and then later choose to do an in person workshop do I get it free?
A: NO. There are only three in studio workshps so our advice would be to signup and you get the online workshop for free. There are no refunds of any kind. And your participation is extremely important to get the most benefit.

Q: What exactly does the online workshop do? Or what do I do?
A: On March 8th you will receive an email to register and create a login to the forum. The first lesson and followup material will be posted. Each week you will receive instruction and assignments all online. We will be guiding you every step of the way. You are free to ask questions, upload images and get help. Participation in the assignments is not required but helpful.

Q: WPPI is on March 8th what if I am there and I don’t have time to login? Or I am away?
A: This is the beauty of the online class. You have a full seven days to absorb the material before new material comes. You can post at any time. In our pro forum some of our students read the lessons months later. YOU WORK at your own pace. We will provide the support, material and be there for you when you are ready.

Q: How will I learn to use my camera online?
A: Just like reading a book, we will provide sample images and the written word in a mamnner to help everyone. If at any moment you are lost, you simple ask a question. You can also interact with other students and we will post video where applicable.

Q:How do I know if I should be on the pro workshop forum or MYLIFE?
A: If you are a professional photographer and are interested in the study, marketing and pricing of pregnancy and newborn photography then our pro workshop class if for you -http://www.b–studio.com/online. If you are an amateur  – whether serious, hobby, soccer mom, happy dad, student – whoever you are – that needs to learn more about their camera, lighting, ISO/SHUTTER/APERTURE, and wants to get inspired with fun ideas of things to do with your photos…like get them OUT OF the camera.
